Welcome to our first episode of Transforming Living with Kelly. We are so excited to take you on this journey with Kelly as she makes her home her own. Stone House at 20 Poyntz Street has some amazing character and incredibly strong bones…but it was so in need of an update. Follow Kelly as she updates and gives her bedroom and ensuite a face lift and transforms it in to something that really has Kelly’s style shine through!
We have a few snap shots of befores to show on the bedroom built ins….and you will definitely see the transformation progress.
You will notice it is VERY dated and very mismatched in terms of wood types and finishes. Extremely useful for storage but aesthetically it desperate need of a makeover!
Here are Kelly’s steps in transforming these beastly built-ins 😂
Step one: Clean thoroughly with TSP Alternative from Fusion
Fusion™ TSP Alternative is a water-based degreaser used to thoroughly clean a painted surface prior to applying paint. Highly efficient, it removes oil, grease, fingerprints, stains and other contaminants, which will improve the adhesion and the look of subsequent coatings.
Safe to use on all surfaces (wood, paint, gypsum, melamine, plastics, metals and glass). Fusion™ TSP Alternative contains no phosphates.
TSP Alternative is available in our web-shop or in house - https://stonehousedesigns.ca/home/ols/products/tsp
Step 2 - Prime product with Paint Couture’s Sure Prep Bonding Primer
Paint Couture's Bonding Primer makes painting slick surfaces a breeze. Simply clean your surface, stir the primer, (STIR - Do not Shake!) apply with a synthetic bristle brush. Allow to dry for a minium of 1 hour. Apply a second coat if necessary.
Sure Prep Bonding Primer is available in-shop or in our web-shop

Step 3: Apply Fusion’s Mineral Paint - Hazelwood
Fusion’s Hazelwood is deep grey feels both warm and grounding. It can be to create dimension as an accent or, as seen in Kelly’s project, to make a dramatic statement.
Hazelwood is bound to be your go to deep neutral in your home décor for a sophisticated, yet soft rich look and feel.
Hazelwood can be purchased online and in-shop as well - https://stonehousedesigns.ca/home/ols/products/hazelwood
Step 4: Top Coat with Paint Couture’s Dead Flat Top Coat
Couture Topcoat is a low VOC, clear, non-yellowing, and very durable topcoat. It is a very easy to use, water based product. Couture Topcoat may be applied directly on top of Paint Couture Paint and Glaze. Use it to add a durable finish over chalk or milk paints. This product dries very fast and produces a very hard finish. It also provides excellent resistance to water, and adds durability. It is highly recommended for use on kitchen cabinets. It is available in four sheen levels (Dead Flat, Flat, Satin and Semi-Gloss). And, unlike so many other Topcoats available there is little to no odor with Couture Topcoat.
Couture Dead Flat Top Coat is available for purchase in-shop or through our web-shop - https://stonehousedesigns.ca/home/ols/products/dead-flat
